Watch: UFC Winner Says ‘Michelle Obama Is a Man!’ at White House Following Victory

The White House South Lawn, historically reserved for state dinners and Easter egg rolls, transformed into a high-octane colosseum on Sunday night. The historic grounds hosted a first-of-its-kind Ultimate Fighting Championship event, a spectacle timed to celebrate both America’s 250th anniversary and President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.

But the evening’s most explosive strike didn’t happen during the bouts. It came during a post-fight interview that has since ignited a massive political and cultural firestorm.

A Victory Speech Turns Political

The catalyst was heavyweight fighter Josh Hokit. Fresh off a grueling victory over veteran heavyweight Derrick Lewis, a fired-up Hokit seized the microphone and immediately injected partisan politics into the sporting triumph.

Hokit began by saluting President Trump, praising the commander-in-chief for having the political courage to greenlight a cage match on the executive mansion’s pristine lawn. He then pivoted to his faith.

“If I’m going to say anything, there is only one person more incredible than the Incredible Hulk, and that’s my Lord and savior, Jesus Christ,” Hokit shouted to the crowd.

After a brief detour to taunt rival fighter and former kickboxer Alex Pereira, Hokit lobbed a rhetorical grenade that instantly shifted the night’s narrative from athletic achievement to raw, hyper-partisan provocation.

“Michelle Obama is a man! Am I right, America?!” Hokit yelled into the microphone.

Holding the microphone was famed podcaster and UFC commentator Joe Rogan. Rogan, flashing a wide grin, appeared to laugh at the heavyweight’s outburst. Opting not to challenge or lean into the conspiracy theory, Rogan simply sidestepped the remark and wrapped up the segment, shouting to the crowd, “Ladies and gentlemen, Josh Hokit!”

The Backlash and the Barstool Response

By Monday morning, the political fallout was swift. The Hill reported that Hokit was facing “intense backlash,” with the criticism primarily led by liberal advocacy groups and Democratic lawmakers who condemned the remarks as a disrespectful desecration of the venue and a crude attack on a former First Lady.

However, the condemnation wasn’t strictly partisan. Outspoken Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy—who has historically been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump—publicly broke ranks to condemn the spectacle. Portnoy called on the president to immediately distance himself from the fighter’s rhetoric.

“These are UFC guys, they’re crazy. They’re idiots,” Portnoy said in a blunt assessment of the situation. “But when you have that on the White House lawn on an event you put down… I don’t care what you think about the Obamas or anything. That has to be an immediate denounce.”

Silence from the Oval Office

If critics were looking for a formal rebuke from the president, they didn’t get it. When Trump took to Truth Social on Monday morning to recap the historic night, he completely ignored the controversy surrounding Hokit’s remarks.

Instead, the president leaned heavily into the grandeur of the evening, focusing on the logistics, the setting, and the sheer power of the athletes. He even gave Hokit a direct shoutout alongside the rest of the card.

“The UFC at the White House last night was incredible,” Trump posted. “The weather was scheduled to be horrendous, and it turned out to be PERFECT! So much for weather predicting. The Fighters were outstanding — Bo Nickal, Justin Gaethje, Ciryl Gane, Sean O’Malley, Josh Hokit, Mauricio Ruffy, and Diego Lopes were all unbelievable!”

Trump’s post continued to marvel at the athletic display, framing the evening as a monumental success for his administration and the venue itself.

“Most people have never seen anything like that kind of human speed and power before,” Trump wrote. “The White House has never looked more beautiful. The setting was unsurpassed!”

The president concluded his thoughts by offering high praise to UFC CEO Dana White, cementing the controversial evening in his own words as “one of the most exciting days in the History of our fabled White House!”
