Yet, beneath the shocking aesthetic of the man he is today lies a deeply personal story of survival, resilience, and a young boy who just wanted to prove he was still here.
Born of Battle: The First Ink
To understand the sea of black ink and complex designs that now define Gulliford’s physical identity, you have to travel back to his middle school years.
While most seventh graders were worrying about homework and schoolyard crushes, Gulliford was fighting for his life against Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
“I had a big lymph node growing… I didn’t think anything of it,” he recalled in an interview with the Daily Mail.
The diagnosis was followed by six grueling months of aggressive chemotherapy. When he finally emerged on the other side of the cancer battle, bald but victorious, the experience fundamentally shifted his perspective on his own mortality.
“I kind of felt like a superhuman after that,” he said.
To commemorate his survival and anchor his gratitude, a teenage Gulliford got his very first tattoos: the words “God First” alongside a cross on the left side of his chest, eventually accompanied by a purple cancer ribbon. At the time, he had no idea that these small, deeply personal tributes would serve as the gateway to a life-defining obsession.

Into the Dark: The Art of the Eyeball Injection
Over the next decade, Gulliford’s body quickly became a living gallery. The space between his original cancer tributes began to fill with a dizzying catalog of artwork that eventually climbed up his neck, wrapped around his torso, and claimed his face.
But perhaps the most extreme—and controversial—choice came when he decided to alter his eyes.
Scleral tattooing, more accurately described as an eyeball injection, involves a practitioner carefully inserting a needle into the delicate layers of the eye to spread colored ink across the sclera (the white part of the eye). The procedure carries immense risk, including the permanent loss of sight if even a fraction of a millimeter of depth is miscalculated.
Gulliford traveled to a specialized shop in Houston, Texas, to undergo the procedure, a day he remembers as a test of mental fortitude.
“It took me a long time actually on the day once I walked into the shop… to even psych myself up to even get it done,” he admitted. “It’s not really like a tattoo on your skin, it is more of an injection or modification.”
With the ink successfully settled, Gulliford’s gaze took on a striking, otherworldly intensity—a feature that cemented his viral status on social media platforms.
